A Beautiful Day In Holland- Europe Trip Part III

Image
Day two of our Holland experience was spent thrift store shopping, eating lunch and playing a bit of volleyball and soccer at a beautiful park, and enjoying an evening with friends. This was a park behind an awesome castle.  Uncle Chris with his girls! \ Love this pic of Samara! Another wonderful day in Holland! Holland- Europe Trip Part II

Image
Hello from Holland!!! So much for a blog per day...now that I have internet on my laptop it may happen! Who wouldn't want to live on a street like this one? Holland is charming. Everything is neat, orderly, clean, and precise. Except for the driving! There are bicycles everywhere...they even have parking garages and highways just for bicycles! The bicyclists create quite a problem for those in autos as there are special rules for who has right of way (often the bicyclist!). Plus, they ride quite confidently on the side of the road, and you must, at times, swerve to avoid them. I'm glad Uncle Chris is driving! So much history is preserved here. Buildings 400 years old, some older even, farms that look just like they would have 100 years ago. If I close my eyes I can imagine Nazi officers stomping through the streets, or Corrie Ten Boom riding her bike through Haarlem's narrow streets. It's so unreal to actually be in the same living room that Corrie and her f...

Flying Into Tomorrow- Europe Trip Part I

Image
The big day is here! In about two hours I will be taking off for Amsterdam. I can hardly believe this is finally happening. I have waited, longed for, and dreamed about this day. And now it's sinking in that I'm Europe bound at last. I will be arriving at 7:30 am Amsterdam time, but it will be 11:30 pm Oregon time. So yeah, long day! My trip has been super relaxing and refreshing so far. What a treat to have hours and hours of alone time. Chilling with a Jamba in Newark, New Jersey My plans for while there? I'm not entirely sure that I have any; I intend to just roll with whatever happens! My Uncle Chris and Aunt Lisa and five of their children will be picking me up in Amsterdam, and we will take it Booher style from there! 😀 A huge thank you to Mama and Daddy and all of my super siblings for your full support- I love you guys! God has led me safe thus far, and I trust him for continued guidance and direction. I will try to blog every day that I have in...

Consumed

Image
What are you consumed by?  We are all consumed by something.  Every human being is created to worship the Creator, the Lord God of heaven and earth.  Colossians 1:16 says, " For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him." But instead of a worshiping our Creator God, we have fallen to worshiping much, much lesser things. We worship family, friends, m oney, beauty, health, fame. None of which are bad, per se, but they were never intended to be worshiped. This is what I see everywhere. Humanity consumed by technology. We have become consumed by a virtual world of Facebook and Instagram, email, texting, Twitter, and more.  Pleasing, perhaps, for a time, yet never fulfilling. What are you consumed by?   "O ur   God   is   a   consuming ...

Snow day with friends

Image
I went snowboarding for the first time last week...on my birthday! Yes, happy 20th birthday to me. ;-) It's a great way to celebrate your birthday (although I don't recommend it). However, the results can be excruciatingly painful! My neck got whipped around, my breath got knocked out of me, my thighs felt like someone stuck a hot knife in them (and here I seriously thought I was in good shape), and my upper body took a beating. But man, did we ever have fun. First, my really cool brother and I got tea at Sisters Coffee Company-and a selfie I had to take a picture of my birthday tag:-) A few awesome friends met Myles and me on the mountain. (Note: we took this pic after the day was over, that's why we all have beany cap hair.)  The day was gorgeous, blue sky and not too cold, the views were incredible, and the snow was great. Myles and Esther skied/snowboarded together quite a bit since they are more advanced and the rest of us were just trying to sta...
