I Even Prayed

Ever said that statement? I know I have.

What is prayer for? A last resort in times of deep distress, pain, fright, confusion, etc? I know I pray when I experience those emotions. But is that the only time when I should pray?

As if God gave me a package when I decided to follow him that said "prayer, a weapon only to be used in times of distress."

We all know that that is not the case.

Prayer is how we communicate with our Guide. It is essential for our walk with the Lord. Wouldn't it be awkward if you were walking beside someone for a lifetime and rarely said a word, rarely carried on a conversation? However, as far as communication with God goes, this example is often reality.

The other day I came across this verse as I read my Bible, and it made me stop and think.

Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. Psalm 78:41

I have tried so many many times to fix people. When I try to fix people my way, I am not only stressed and frazzled, but I am limiting my God! I turn to methods that don't work, like saying too much, giving the cold shoulder, manipulating, schmoozing, etc.
God not only fixes people, he changes, renews, and completes them. I do not need to worry. My job is to leave them to him and he will take full control.

Ah. Sweet relaxation. And man, I sure enjoy those around me a whole lot more because their problems are not my business.

I don't want to say "I even prayed." I want to rejoice in prayer. I want to seek it out as a first resort. In all cases, on all occasions.

These are some thoughts that have been rolling around in my head, I hope they made sense!

Pray on!

Promise: The Lord hath heard my supplication; the Lord will receive my prayer. Psalm 6:9
